David Maddox is committed to the health of the natural environment, urban resilience, the application of ecosystem services for human welfare and livelihoods, and the effective and efficient monitoring and evaluation of these issues. As Founder and Editor of TheNatureOfCities.com and Co-Founder and Principal of Sound Science LLC, his current work is in the development of useful knowledge for design and management of social-ecological systems in urban landscapes. Maddox holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, with a statistics minor, from Cornell University. He lives in New York City.

Laura Booth believes that cities should be viewed as natural systems. As Assistant Editor for TheNatureOfCities.com, she supports the blog in its mission to communicate how nature is integrated into urban life. Laura currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she works as a research intern for the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory, a 30-year citizen science-based initiative that monitors birds of prey as they migrate along the coast of California. She is a recent graduate of Columbia University, where she studied environmental biology.
